About Clover

Clover Kayne is a London-born mezzo-soprano praised for her flexible, warm tone and magnetic stage presence. She recently completed her Advanced Diploma with the Royal Academy Opera, where she studied with Kate Paterson and Jonathan Papp, and graduated with the Regency Award for outstanding achievement. During this time, she was generously supported by the Carr-Gregory Award, the Hannah Horowitz Award, and the Opera Awards Foundation.

Her operatic roles span the mezzo repertoire, including Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), Ariodante (Ariodante), Florence Pike (Albert Herring), and the Fox (The Cunning Little Vixen). She has also performed Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier), Charlotte (Werther), and Rinaldo (Rinaldo) in opera scenes. Clover has worked with companies including If Opera, Grimeborn Festival, and Nevill Holt Opera, where she was an Emerging Artist. In 2024, she was selected to be a Young Artist at the Georg Solti Accademia.

A committed recitalist and concert performer, she has appeared at venues such as St George’s Bristol, Iford Manor, the Austrian Cultural Forum, and the Italian Cultural Institute. She has performed Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Janáček’s Říkadla at LSO St Luke’s, Mahler’s Rückert Lieder, and premiered James Allen’s Etched onto Me at the Barbican. Her performances have been broadcast on BBC Radio 4’s Poetry Please and Reaching for Rossini.

Clover was a finalist in the 2025 ROSL Annual Music Competition and runner-up in the 2024 Richard Lewis Award at the Royal Academy of Music. She also won the North London Festival Singer’s Prize. She received the Charles Norman Prize for outstanding studentship for two consecutive years. During her postgraduate studies, she was regularly coached by pianist James Baillieu. She is a Josephine Baker Trust Artist, a member of the Academy Song Circle, and has participated in masterclasses with the likes of Ailish Tynan, Mary Bevan, Angelika Kirchschlager, and Edith Wiens.

Clover brings a grounded, expressive approach to her work, combining vibrant storytelling with a deep curiosity for character and sound.
